At low temperatures, surfactants may undergo a phenomenon called “gel formation,” in which the surfactant molecules arrange themselves in a specific structure.
To address this, gently heating the product can liquefy the hardened surfactant. This can be done by either passing hot water over the container or diluting the solution with water to break down the gel-like structure.
Gel Formation: In some cases, Cocamidopropyl Betaine can undergo gel formation at low temperatures, which can affect product consistency. This issue can typically resolve by gently heating the product to return it to a liquid state.
In summary, Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a versatile and widely used surfactant in the cosmetics and personal care industry. Its mildness, compatibility with other surfactants, and ability to create foam and thicken formulations make it a valuable ingredient for various products aimed at cleansing and conditioning the hair and skin.
